City announces Fund Our Future community engagement opportunities

Several upcoming online and in-person engagement opportunities are available to community members who would like to be involved in shaping the city's financial future. These opportunities are part of the city's Long-Term Financial Strategy project, which is called Fund Our Future, and is a top city priority.

The project aims to guide future budget decision-making, help to inform potential tax ballot measures, and meet our community's needs in a sustainable, equitable and resilient way. Its goals include achieving more spending flexibility, identifying new sources of revenue and providing the level of service our community desires.

"Community voices are a vital part of Fund Our Future," said Budget Officer Charlotte Huskey. "Hearing from community members on what you consider to be essential is crucial to developing the city's long-term financial strategy. This input will help us better understand community priorities and balance trade-offs when there are financial constraints."

The engagement sessions are designed to build understanding around the city budget, which city programs and services have the most impact on community members, and what acceptable levels of service look like in these areas. Community members are invited to attend one of the following sessions to ask questions and share their perspectives:

Community members may also share their perspectives by participating in an online engagement activity. This activity is identical to the activity participants will engage in during sessions and will be open from March 16 to April 19. Visit this website to complete the online activity..
