The City of Bismarck's Human Relations Committee (HRC) is presenting a Community Conversation Forum focused on homelessness on Tuesday, Nov. 18.
The free public event is designed to facilitate conversations around the challenges faced by individuals in Bismarck who have been unhoused or are currently experiencing homelessness.
"It's critical we continue to host events where we can learn from both subject matter experts and individuals with lived experience," said HRC Chair Sargianna Wutzke. "Creating opportunities to listen, learn and better understand the core issues affecting our community aligns with the mission of the Human Relations Committee. November is National Homelessness Month, and the week prior to Thanksgiving is National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week. It is critical we shine a light on these challenges and the local response to them."
The forum will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Tom Baker Meeting Room, located in the lower level of the City/County Building at 221 North Fifth Street in Bismarck. The format of the program will include a panel discussion, followed by an opportunity for public input.
The HRC works to create an atmosphere of inclusion, equality and accessibility through education and outreach, recognizing the value of a diverse community. The committee meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 4 p.m. in the City/County Building.
