Construction is underway on a new parking improvement project along the U.S. 41 south access road between Bolander Terrace and North Port Boulevard, near Anna Maria Oyster Bar.
The project will add 49 angled parking stalls constructed with pervious concrete, providing additional parking for the area while helping minimize stormwater impacts. The improvements will also include new crosswalks and minor enhancements to sidewalks and landscaping.
Construction officially began Aug. 31, with a 180-day contract duration. The project is anticipated to be completed by Feb. 27, 2027. Phase I of the project is funded entirely by Surtax dollars.
During construction, the north side of the U.S. 41 access road will be an active work zone. Residents, visitors and customers are asked to avoid parking along the north side of the access road throughout the project to help keep the construction area safe and allow crews to work efficiently.
Businesses located along the project corridor have been provided with information about the upcoming work, including details on the improvements and the construction schedule.
