The Portland Police Bureau's Strategic Communications Unit is debuting a video debriefing for the community entitled "Under Fire: A Portland Police Officer's Story of Survival." On the week of the three-year anniversary of the shooting, the video is an intimate look at the attempted murder of Police Officer Adi Ramic on May 6, 2022 at Northeast 79th Avenue and Northeast Mason Street. Officer Ramic shares his personal story about his life as an immigrant, his family, his work as a Portland Police Officer on the Focused Intervention Team (FIT), and his bond with the officers who saved his life. In it, he relives the story of a traffic stop that almost turned fatal.

More information about the incident can be found on our website here. The case has been adjudicated and the shooter remains in prison.

"I'm sincerely grateful that Officer Ramic survived this dangerous encounter that night three years ago, and that he is now willing to share his deeply personal story with our community," said Chief Bob Day. "It's a reminder to all of us how important it is that we continue to proactively address crime and the fear of crime so that Portlanders can thrive."

It is even more poignant now, as today is the first day of National Police Week, which is a national week of recognition for the community service performed by law enforcement officers, and to commemorate those who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.
