VDACS Announces 2026 Pesticide Collection Program Dates and Collection Sites

Farmers and firms in Northeast Virginia can drop off unused pesticides

Richmond, Va. - Farmers, pesticide dealers, pest control firms, certified applicators, homeowners, and golf course operators are encouraged to participate in the 2026 Virginia Pesticide Collection Program. The program collects unwanted, outdated, or banned pesticides, at no cost to eligible participants, and disposes of them in a safe manner.

The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services' (VDACS) Office of Pesticide Services oversees the program, in partnership with Virginia Cooperative Extension and the Division of Consolidated Laboratory Services. The program has collected and destroyed more than 2 million pounds of outdated and unwanted pesticides since its inception, and is funded through pesticide fees collected by VDACS.

VDACS' Pesticide Collection Program rotates through five regions in the state, conducting a collection annually in a different region. a href="https://www.vdacs.virginia.gov/pdf/localities.pdf" target="_blank">Click here for the annual list of collection regions and localities. This year, unwanted pesticides will be collected in the Northeast region of the state at the following sites and dates. All locations are open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

  • Aug. 25 - Helena Chemical, 100 Commerce Pkwy, Warsaw, Va., 22572
  • Aug. 26 - Fleet Brothers, Inc., 10072 General Puller Hwy, Hartfield, Va., 23071
  • Aug. 27 - Nutrien Ag Solutions, 15277 Richmond Tappahannock Hwy, Aylett, Va., 23009
  • Sept. 15 - Merrifield Garden Center-Fair Oaks, 12101 Route 29, Fairfax, Va., 22030
  • Sept. 16 - James S. Long Regional Park, 4603 James Madison Hwy, Haymarket, Va., 20169
  • Sept. 17 - Greenline Service Corp., 11417 Tidewater Trail, Fredericksburg, Va., 22408

Participants must transport their unwanted pesticides to the collection sites. If participants cannot safely containerize the unwanted pesticides for transport, VDACS may arrange assistance on a case-by-case basis. Only pesticides will be accepted. The program does NOT accept motor oil, paint, fuel, fertilizer, or other chemicals. Unknown materials in quantities greater than 5 gallons of liquid or 50 pounds of solids will also not be accepted.

Participants are encouraged to complete a pesticide collection registration form prior to the scheduled collection date and return the completed form to [email protected] or mail to Office of Pesticide Services, VDACS, P.O. Box 1163, Richmond, Virginia 23218. The form is available online or by contacting the program at 804-371-6561.
