Homegrown Golf Legend Graham Marsh Returns to Kalgoorlie Course He Designed

Published on Wednesday, 11 March 2026 at 9:42:20 AM

Australian golf legend and course designer Graham Marsh returned to Kalgoorlie-Boulder yesterday, visiting the iconic Kalgoorlie Golf Course he designed to review the course and its ongoing development.

Born in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, Marsh is widely regarded as one of Australia's most influential golf course designers. His desert-style layout at the Kalgoorlie Golf Course has become one of the country's most distinctive courses, known for its dramatic red landscape, Santa Ana couch fairways and bentgrass greens.

During his visit, Marsh walked sections of the course to assess its overall integrity and performance and met with Course Superintendent Roger Innes and his grounds team to discuss maintenance, presentation, and opportunities for the course's continued improvement.

The visit provided an opportunity to reflect on how the course has evolved since opening in 2010, while also considering how it can continue to grow and maintain its reputation as one of Australia's standout regional golf destinations.

Speaking during the visit, Marsh said it was a pleasure to return to the course and see how it continues to perform.

"It feels wonderful to be here again to see it and to examine what we have and how we can continue moving this forward," he said.

The Kalgoorlie Golf Course continues to receive strong national recognition, currently ranked #21 in Australia's Top 100 Public Access Courses (2025) and third among public-access courses in Western Australia.
