Community Invited to Help Write The Next Chapter

City of Sandy Springs Kick-Offs Comprehensive Plan and Recreation & Parks Master Plan

June 4, 2026

The City of Sandy Springs invites community members to help determine The Next Chapter with the launch the City's Comprehensive Plan and Recreation & Parks Master Plan on Tuesday, June 23.

What: Public Workshop #1 - Comprehensive Plan and Recreation & Parks Master Plan
Where: The Conference Center at City Springs, 1 Galambos Way
When: Tuesday, June 23, 2026
Time: 6 p.m.- 8 p.m.

Workshop attendees can expect a brief overview of the Comprehensive Plan and Recreation & Parks Master Plan, the next chapter in the City's planning process, and how the two plans will work together. Following the presentation, participants will have the opportunity to take part in interactive, hands-on activities designed to gather initial community input. City staff and the consultant team will be available to answer questions, discuss ideas, and collect feedback. The whole family is invited; activities for children and teens will also be available to ensure youth voices are part of shaping Sandy Springs' next chapter.

"As our community grows and changes, we have an opportunity to guide that growth in a way that protects the character people value while preparing for the future," says Sandy Springs Mayor Rusty Paul. "This planning effort is about more than policies and projects -- it is about ensuring that the future of our city is shaped by the people who live and work here. We encourage residents, businesses, and community members to participate and help write The Next Chapter for the years to come."

Community engagement will continue beyond the public meetings through a dedicated online engagement hub that will serve as a central resource for the planning process. The hub will include project information, updates, upcoming engagement opportunities, and online activities. Materials and activities from each public meeting, including the June 23 workshop, will also be posted online, ensuring that those unable to attend in person still have opportunities to share ideas and stay involved throughout the process.

Community members are encouraged to stop by on June 23, participate in the activities, and share their ideas for Sandy Springs' next chapter. For more information about The Next Chapter, visit https://www.PlanTheNextChapter.org.

About the Comprehensive Plan and Recreation & Parks Master Plan

The Comprehensive Plan serves as the City's primary policy document, guiding decisions related to future growth, land use, infrastructure, housing, and economic development over the next 20 years. The Recreation and Parks Master Plan, last updated in 2019, guides decisions regarding the City's greenspace, greenways, recreation, parks, open space, and trails. While the Comprehensive Plan will include recreation and parks as a policy component, the Recreation & Parks Master Plan will assess the current recreation and parks inventory in greater detail, identify needs and priorities, recommend potential improvements, and develop a phased implementation strategy.
