Bowie State Represented in Smithsonian Exhibition Celebrating HBCU Impact

"At the Vanguard: Making and Saving History at HBCUs" is on view at the National Museum of African American History and Culture through July 19, highlighting the legacy and impact of historically Black colleges and universities nationwide.

The exhibition features a video, "HBCUs Present and Future," alongside photos and artifacts that showcase longstanding traditions and illustrate how HBCUs cultivate excellence and achievement. Elijah Taylor, a 2025 Bowie State University graduate with a Bachelor of Science in communications, appears in the video discussing his decision to attend an HBCU.

Filmed on Bowie State's campus, Taylor shares his perspective as part of the four-minute video, contributing to the exhibition's broader narrative.

The exhibition will travel nationwide this summer, with scheduled stops in Atlanta, Houston and Tallahassee, giving audiences across the country an opportunity to learn more about HBCUs.
