On 5~6 February, the Korea Enterprises Federation (KEF) held its 4th Korea Top Enterprise Forum under the theme of 'The Era of AI: New Opportunities and Challenges,' with more than 400 business leaders in attendance.<_o3a_p>
"To overcome the immediate challenges facing our economy and make another leap forward, we must drastically boost productivity and competitiveness," said KEF Chairman Sohn Kyung-shik in his opening remarks. "AI is the most effective breakthrough to achieve this, and differences in AI capabilities is turning into competitiveness."<_o3a_p>
"The recent rapid progress in AI is reshaping our social and economic structure through a virtuous cycle where new industries emerge and their growth generates further technological innovation," added Chairman Sohn.<_o3a_p>
He emphasized that "decisions and leadership from business leaders are more important than ever, and Korean enterprises must seize the opportunity with strong commitment and bold investment to make a new leap forward in this era of AI."<_o3a_p>
On the first day of the forum, Professor Kim Dae-shik of KAIST discussed how technological progress, most notably in generative AI and AGI (Artificial General Intelligence), is reshaping industries and the relationship between capital and labor. On the second day, Vice Minister Kwon Chang-jun of Korea's Ministry of Employment and Labor outlined this year's policy agenda, including efforts to narrow labor market disparities.
