June 2026: Immigrant Heritage Month

WHEREAS, generations of immigrants have settled in the United States from every corner of the globe and built up our nation's economy; and,

WHEREAS, immigrants continue to grow businesses, offer innovative ideas, and create jobs in Michigan; and,

WHEREAS, immigrants have provided Michigan and the United States with unique social and cultural influence, enriching the extraordinary character of our state and nation; and,

WHEREAS, immigrants have been tireless leaders not only in securing their own rights and access to equal opportunity, but also in campaigning to create a more fair and just society for all Americans;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Gretchen Whitmer, governor of Michigan, and Garlin Gilchrist II, lieutenant governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim June 2026 as Immigrant Heritage Month in Michigan.
