Cherokee Nation to meet with Cherokees during visit to Kansas

Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr., Deputy Principal Chief Bryan Warner and Council of the Cherokee Nation At-Large Councilors Dr. Julia Coates and Speaker of the Council Johnny Jack Kidwell, and other Cherokee Nation officials will visit Kansas City, Kan., and Wichita, Kan., for community gatherings with Cherokee citizens.

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. - The Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation, the largest federally recognized tribe in the United States, will join fellow Cherokee Nation citizens on March 14 and 15 during a visit to Kansas City and Wichita.

The Cherokee Nation Reservation is located in Northeast Oklahoma, though the tribe has more than 470,000 citizens worldwide, including over 16,000 in Kansas and 13,000 in Missouri.

Chief Hoskin will be joined by Deputy Principal Chief Bryan Warner and Council of the Cherokee Nation At-Large Councilors Dr. Julia Coates and Speaker of the Council Johnny Jack Kidwell to meet and greet Cherokee citizens and provide important Cherokee Nation news and tribal updates.

Cherokee citizens in attendance can enjoy cultural presentations and demonstrations which may include storytelling, flute performances, and traditional arts and crafts. Cherokee Nation department employees, such as from the tribe's registration office, education department, and Cherokee Vote will also be on hand during the meeting.

Cherokee Nation Registration will be on-site for Photo IDs and citizenship applications.
