Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month in Macon-Bibb

Hispanic Heritage Month is in full swing, and there are plenty of opportunities to celebrate right here in Macon-Bibb!

From live music and dancing to storytelling, Pilates, food, and festivals, local organizations are bringing the community together to celebrate Hispanic and Latino cultures, traditions, and contributions.

National Hispanic Heritage Month is recognized from September 15 through October 15, but the celebrations in Macon will continue through the end of October.

Festival Latino 2026 | September 27

Kick off the celebrations this weekend at Festival Latino 2026 on Sunday, September 27, from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Smiley's Flea Market, 6717 Hawkinsville Road.

For 11 years, ¿Que Pasa? has presented and hosted the family-friendly celebration which features live music, dancing, prizes, and more.

Festival Latino 2026 is independently organized and is not affiliated with the Macon-Bibb Hispanic Festival, but it offers another opportunity for our community to come together and celebrate Hispanic culture.

First Friday | October 2

The Macon-Bibb Hispanic Festival Committee is joining NewTown Macon for First Friday on Friday, October 2, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Poplar Street Park in front of NewTown Macon.

Stop by, meet Mirabel from Encanto, meet members of the Festival Committee, and get ready for everything coming later in the month!

Hispanic Heritage Month Proclamation | October 6

Macon-Bibb County will officially recognize Hispanic Heritage Month during the County Commission Meeting on Tuesday, October 6, at 6:00 p.m.

At the beginning of the meeting, Mayor Lester Miller will read a proclamation recognizing Hispanic Heritage Month and celebrating the culture, history, and contributions of the Hispanic and Latino community.

The meeting will be held in the Commission Chambers at Macon-Bibb County City Hall (700 Poplar Street).

Cor & Cultura + Ritmo & Cultura | October 10

Celebrate Hispanic culture from morning to night on the rooftop of Hotel Forty Five!

Start the day with Cor & Cultura at 10:00 a.m. at Hightales Rooftop Bar. Cor Studio, Hotel Forty Five, and the Macon-Bibb Hispanic Festival are teaming up for a rooftop Pilates class set to Latin music.

Registration is $10 per person and includes the class and a mimosa afterward, with proceeds benefiting the Macon-Bibb Hispanic Festival. Participants can also head downstairs to Loom after class for brunch and receive 10% off their meal.

Then, come back to the rooftop at 6:00 p.m. for Ritmo & Cultura, an evening of dancing on the rooftop! The dance lesson will be led by Macon Connections.

It's another chance to come together, enjoy Latin music and dancing, and celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a beautiful view of Downtown Macon.

Hispanic Heritage Month with Storytellers Macon | October 13

On Tuesday, October 13, Storytellers Macon will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month in partnership with Macon-Bibb Hispanic Festival at historic Grant's Lounge.

The special evening will give members of our community an opportunity to gather, listen, and share stories while highlighting Hispanic voices and experiences.

5th Annual Macon-Bibb Hispanic Festival | October 24

We'll wrap up the celebrations in a BIG way on Saturday, October 24, from 1:00 until 7:00 p.m. with the 5th Annual Macon-Bibb Hispanic Festival at Cherry Street Plaza, 340 Cherry Street!

The free, family-friendly festival will bring together cultures from across Latin America for an afternoon filled with live music and performances, dancing, food, vendors, kids activities, community resources, and more.

This year, more than 70 vendors, all Hispanic-owned, are joining the celebration, along with seven food trucks and nonprofit organizations providing resources to the community.

The Macon-Bibb Hispanic Festival began in 2022 as an effort to bring more of the Hispanic community into Downtown Macon and our public spaces. Five years later, it has grown into a community-wide celebration focused on sharing culture, supporting Hispanic-owned businesses, and bringing people from all backgrounds together.

Whether you join us for a festival, celebrate with us at City Hall, get moving on a rooftop, listen to stories, or do a little bit of everything, there are plenty of ways to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month in Macon-Bibb.
