(Grande Prairie, Alta. - March 4, 2026) - The City of Grande Prairie is inviting community members to apply to serve on the Housing and Homelessness Advisory Committee (HHAC).
The committee provides strategic advice and recommendations to Council and Administration on housing and homelessness priorities, system planning and the allocation of municipal, provincial and federal funding.
The Housing & Homelessness Advisory Committee replaces the former Community Advisory Board on Housing and Homelessness (CABH). The transition follows consultation and engagement with CABH members and Council's approval of the bylaw amendment that formalizes the committee's updated governance structure.
The new structure strengthens accountability and governance while maintaining continuity with federal and provincial programs. When required under Reaching Home: Canada's Homelessness Strategy, the committee will continue to serve as the Community Advisory Board on Housing & Homelessness.
"Addressing housing and homelessness requires thoughtful planning and strong community partnerships," said City of Grande Prairie Mayor, Jackie Clayton. "The Housing & Homelessness Advisory Committee will help guide decisions that strengthen our local housing system and support residents in need. We are seeking community members who want to help shape long-term housing priorities in our city."
The City is seeking individuals who bring lived experience, sector expertise, community leadership or professional knowledge related to housing, homelessness, health, justice, business and equity-deserving populations. Committee members will participate in a minimum of six meetings per year.
Applications are open until March 16, 2026
