Industry Publication Spotlights Wentworth Students, Alumni Shaping the Future of Design and Construction

October 14, 2026

Wentworth Institute of Technology students, alumni, and a student organization are featured throughout the 2026 edition of NEXTGEN AEC, a student-produced publication from High-Profile Monthly that highlights the next generation of New England's architecture, engineering, and construction community.

The issue opens with a profile of the Wentworth Construction Management Club (WIT CMC), a student-run organization founded in 1980 that works with the Associated General Contractors and the Construction Management Association of America. Club president Melanie Chaves, associate director of marketing Kiele Sarnie, executive board member Carson Roberge, and advisor Michael D'Agostino, a three-time Wentworth alumnus who has advised the club for the past decade, spoke about their paths into the industry and the transition from classroom to jobsite.

"Get involved," D'Agostino advises students. "WIT CMC is a tool. Use it or lose it."

The publication also features an interview with Danyson Tavares, BArch '11, MArch '12, executive director of the Boston Society for Architecture. Tavares reflected on a career that has taken him from designer to educator to nonprofit leader, and on how the next generation is reshaping the profession.

Architecture student Aiden Belisle discussed his co-op at CI Design, which he found through WITWorks, and what he has learned about professional practice. "It's really satisfying to design something and then have it created in reality," he said.

A separate feature goes inside Studio 6, the School of Architecture and Design's third-year comprehensive studio. Students Omotade Folorunso, Angela Alvarez, and Keren Nuñez Meléndez described their integrated design project for Craic Sauce Works in Lowell, a hybrid food production and public cultural facility, and how co-op experiences at Central Ceilings, Rimkus, the Massachusetts School Building Authority, CambridgeSeven, and Timothy Burke Architecture shaped their work.
