Summertime has arrived in Chicago, with temperatures and humidity hitting their highest levels to date in 2026. CDPH encourages everyone to get outside and move around this summer, but make sure to do so safely. As the weather warms up it's always important to take the proper precautions in the heat:
For more information on how to keep yourself and your loved ones safe in sweltering summer weather, visit the CDPH webpage on heat preparedness.
CDPH is participating in Black Men's Wellness Day on Saturday, June 20 (7 am-12 pm) at the Bob Pickens Track & Field at 6233 S. Stony Island Ave. This free event brings together Black men, families, and community members for a morning focused on health, connection, and action.

This month we recognize that Pride and public health are inseparable.
For generations, LGBTQ+ people have fought for the freedom to live openly, love without fear or hesitation, and access healthcare without discrimination. Pride Month honors that progress, while reminding us that health equity is essential to the well-being of LGBTQ+ individuals and families.
Pride Month is also a reminder that every family deserves to feel seen, supported and connected. Through the Chicago Department of Public Health's Family Connects Chicago program, families with newborns; including LGBTQIA+ parents and caregivers, foster and adoptive families, and those navigating loss, can receive a free, in-home nurse visit that provides health screenings, parenting support and connections to local resources. By offering the program to all eligible families, Family Connects Chicago helps build belonging into the systems that support parents and babies from the very beginning.

June is Men's Health Month, and on a new episode of Healthy Chicago Podcast, Sam Rene (CDPH Program Manager, syndemic infectious disease bureau) speaks with Dominique Wilson (African American Wellness Agency and National Center for Urban Solutions) and Walter Lindsey (CDPH Database Analyst) about Black men's health, stigma and myth around men's health, and how every man can prioritize their mental and physical wellness.
