The Tallahassee Police Department proudly welcomed its newest class of officers following today's Swearing-In Ceremony, continuing a milestone year as the department celebrates 200 years of service to the community.
After successfully completing their academy training, these recruits officially took the oath and began their careers serving the citizens of Tallahassee.
This class reflects a strong commitment to service and a diverse range of experience. Among them is a legacy officer continuing a family tradition in law enforcement, as well as several recruits with prior public safety backgrounds in corrections and support roles within the Tallahassee Police Department. The class also includes a recruit with military experience who demonstrated leadership as class president during training, and one recruit who was honored for academic excellence as the recipient of the Phil Royal Memorial Scholarship.
Chief Lawrence E. Revell said, "Each new class of officers represents the future of our profession. As we continue celebrating our Bicentennial, it is especially meaningful to welcome individuals who are committed to serving with professionalism and dedication to our community."
As the longest continually accredited law enforcement agency in the nation, the Tallahassee Police Department remains committed to building on its legacy while continuing to evolve to meet the needs of the community.
