The City of Garden Grove is exploring opportunities to assist local businesses that may have experienced economic impacts resulting from this incident.
The City is currently seeking to obtain a U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) declaration to support affected businesses and eligible private nonprofit organizations. This program may assist businesses, including home-based businesses that have suffered substantial economic injury within the declared disaster area.
Small businesses impacted by the recent chemical incident in Garden Grove are encouraged to complete and submit an SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loan worksheet to help determine eligibility for potential assistance programs. Download and complete the worksheet below, then email the completed form to [email protected].
Businesses may be eligible if they are unable to meet financial obligations or pay ordinary and necessary operating expenses due to direct impacts from the incident. While a decline in sales or loss of anticipated profits alone does not qualify as substantial economic injury, the SBA EIDL program is intended to provide working capital to help businesses continue operations until conditions normalize.
Eligibility considerations may include:
• The business was directly impacted by the incident
• The business is unable to cover operating expenses and/or debt payments due to the incident
• The business is physically located within the declared incident area
• The business is unable to obtain credit elsewhere
Businesses do not need to have sustained physical property damage to be considered for assistance. Loan amounts are based on available funding, the extent of economic impact, and the financial needs of the business.
