HONG KONG, September 29, 2026 - State Street Corporation (NYSE: STT) today announced that it has been appointed by Wellington Management as transfer agent on Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited's (HKEX) Integrated Fund Platform (IFP). State Street has executed Wellington's first fund subscription and redemption orders routed through the IFP. The milestone reflects the continued development of Hong Kong's fund distribution ecosystem and the adoption of the IFP.
As the only global transfer agent currently operating on the IFP, State Street's role in enabling this milestone reflects the strength of its leadership in transfer agency innovation and its ability to apply that experience to support the evolution of local market infrastructure. By combining global scale, rigorous operational standards, comprehensive investor and distribution data, and a digital-first approach, State Street is helping asset managers connect to new distribution channels and supporting HKEX's vision to strengthen Hong Kong's fund ecosystem.
The milestone follows HKEX's launch of the Order Routing Service on the IFP, a business-to-business fund services platform developed with support from the Hong Kong SAR Government and the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC). The platform is designed to strengthen Hong Kong's fund distribution infrastructure by connecting asset managers and distributors through a standardized digital channel.
Leveraging more than 40 years of experience across 15 global locations, State Street's Hong Kong well-established transfer agency capabilities enabled Wellington Management to complete its initial transactions on the platform, providing access to Hong Kong's distribution network.
"This is an important milestone not only for Wellington Management and State Street, but also for the continued evolution of Hong Kong's fund distribution ecosystem," said Tim Helyar, Head of Asia Pacific at State Street. "Global asset managers are looking for more efficient ways to connect with distributors and investors across the region. The Integrated Fund Platform has the potential to simplify that process, and we're proud to help Wellington take this first step while supporting broader adoption across the market."
"As one of the world's largest independent investment management firms, we continually seek ways to improve access for our local client base," said Cedric R. Pouillart, Managing Director, Head of Office for Hong Kong, Director of Trading, APAC, at Wellington Management. "Executing our first order on HKEX's Integrated Fund Platform, with State Street as our transfer agent, reflects our commitment to the Hong Kong market and its future infrastructure. The platform provides a more direct and streamlined route to Hong Kong's retail and institutional distribution market, creating potential new opportunities for our funds and investors. This successful implementation demonstrates the benefits of industry participants working together to enhance access and efficiency across Hong Kong's fund ecosystem."
The IFP represents an important infrastructure development for Hong Kong's asset management industry, helping fund managers navigate an increasingly interconnected distribution landscape while improving connectivity between market participants.
"We warmly welcome State Street and Wellington Management as being the first international firms to complete orders through HKEX's Integrated Fund Platform," said Richard Leung, Group Chief Information Officer at HKEX. "By providing global asset managers with a more direct and efficient route to Hong Kong's distributor network, IFP is simplifying fund distribution and enhancing connectivity across the ecosystem. This important milestone underscores our commitment to advancing Hong Kong's fund distribution infrastructure and strengthening the city's position as a leading international wealth and asset management hub."
