PRESS RELEASE - Halloween Night and Downtown Construction

HALLOWEEN NIGHTand DOWNTOWN CONSTRUCTION

Mariposa County is aware of the issues arising from the construction of crosswalks that are currently taking place and currently scheduled on Halloween Night.

As our community is aware, the highway is the State's Jurisdiction. Cal Trans is the ultimate authority for the project.

We share and hear the concerns of our community members and have been in contact with Cal Trans regarding Halloween Night for the safety of our children and community members.

They are aware of our concerns and have noted they will do what they can to work with the contractor to minimize safety concerns during a busy night for our community. One solution included extending the work window for the contractor, which is the primary reason, the community saw them working after 6 AM the morning of Friday, October 25^th.

As a reminder, work is scheduled to take place from October 24^th, 2024, through November 25^th, 2024, and will include traffic controls to allow for the concrete to cure.

The following is the current released closures from Cal Trans:

• One-way traffic control on eastbound SR-140 from 6th Street to SR-49 North for crosswalk construction beginning Thursday, October 24, at 7:00 p.m. continuing through Monday, October 28, 2024, at 6:00 a.m.
• One-way traffic control on westbound SR-140 from 6th Street to SR-49 North for crosswalk construction beginning Thursday, October 31, at 7:00 p.m. continuing through Monday, November 4, 2024, at 6:00 a.m. •
• No construction work scheduled over Veterans Day weekend from Thursday, November 7, through Monday, November 11, 2024.
• One-way traffic control on eastbound SR-140 from 7th Street to SR-49 South for crosswalk construction beginning Thursday, November 14, at 7:00 p.m. continuing through Monday, November 18, 2024, at 6:00 a.m.
• One-way traffic control on westbound SR-140 from 7th Street to SR-49 South for crosswalk construction beginning Thursday, November 21, at 7:00 p.m. continuing through Monday, November 25, 2024, at 6:00 a.m.

We understand that the construction can come at an inconvenience but know this will ultimately improve the safety of our main throughway for our community and visitors.

We ask that you be patient and allot more travel time to accommodate the construction.
