Communication Studies Students and Faculty Present at Regional Convention

Student presenters Lydia Price, Lilliana Drosnock, and Grace Rinehimer

Five CU-Bloomsburg communication studies students presented at the 2026 Eastern Communication Association Convention, held April 9-12 in Pittsburgh.

Amber Lieb and Scott Rumbough presented their paper, "Nonverbal Communication within Group Interactions in Association with Self-Esteem Levels and the Big Five Personality Traits."

Lilliana Drosnock, Lydia Price, and Grace Rinehimer were presenters on "Uncertainty Management and Institutional Change: A Round Table Discussion" with faculty members Drs. Erin Brummett, Paula Hopeck, Angela G. La Valley, and Robert J. Green. Grace also presented with Dr. Hopeck: "Knowing Our Neighbors: Connecting Campus and Community."

Communication studies faculty also presented on a range of topics at the convention:

  • Eric C. Miller - "The Sexual Revelation: Prophetic Rhetoric and Marital Innovation in Victorian America"
  • James Petre - "Theorizing the Overlaps and Distinctions of Ethical Persuasion and Provocative Rhetoric in an Age of Propaganda"
  • Robert J. Green - "On the AI of Propaganda and the Propaganda of AI: Constructing Consumption Communities in the Service of Big Tech"
  • Angela G. La Valley - "Focus on the Family: How Propagandists Exploit Family Conversations for Political Gain"
  • Elizabeth A. Petre & James Petre - "Exploring Images of Food Guidance and the Transformative Possibilities of the USDA MyPlate"
  • Erin Brummett - "Responding to Relational Marginalization and Stigma in Interracial Relationships"
