As it was the case during the Danish EU Presidency in 2012, there has been a focus on implementing sustainable initiatives throughout the Presidency in the second half of 2025. The work with the ISO 20121 standard has laid the foundation for this. The ISO 20121 standard constitutes a management system that has contributed to a systematic, analytical, and documented approach to working with sustainability. Furthermore, the work on ISO 20121 has helped to ensure that environmentally, socially, and economically responsible choices are made in connection with the planning and execution of the EU Presidency.

We are proud to have achieved ISO 20121 certification for our EU Presidency. It is the result of a long and determined effort to integrate sustainability into the planning and delivery of the Presidency. Throughout our work with the presidency, we have worked systematically with concrete initiatives - something that has been visible at the conference venues hosting our informal ministerial meetings and conferences. These initiatives have included shared transport where possible, and reducing unnecessary consumption - for example by not handing out presidency pens, but making them available when needed.
Marie Bjerre Minister for European Affairs

The certification applies to activities taking place in Denmark during the Danish EU Presidency, coordinated by the central logistics unit in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (EULOG).
