2026 AHF Readers' Choice Award Finalist Spotlight #2: Shirley Chisholm Village

Shirley Chisholm Village is a new affordable housing community in San Francisco, California, developed by MidPen Housing Corporation. As San Francisco's first educator housing development, the development includes 35 apartments for San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) educators and their families, with units affordable to households earning 30% to 50% of the area median income (AMI), plus one manager's unit. As part of a larger mixed-income community, the development helps address San Francisco's high cost of living by providing stable, affordable homes for local educators.

Developed in partnership with the City of San Francisco and San Francisco Unified School District, Shirley Chisholm Village is a long-term investment in affordable workforce housing that supports educator retention and strengthens the surrounding community.
