SGMC Health Honors Crittenden with May BEE Award

SGMC Health recognized Veronica Crittenden, patient care technician, as the May recipient of the Being Extraordinary Every Day (BEE) Award, honoring non-nursing team members who exemplify exceptional compassion, teamwork, and commitment to patient care.

Crittenden is a dedicated member of the SGMC Health team and was working on the Cardiac Progressive Unit at the time of her nomination. She has recently transitioned her skillset to continue serving patients at the Pearlman Cancer Center, further extending her impact across the organization.

She was nominated multiple times by the family of a patient who experienced an incredibly difficult journey while in SGMC Health's care. Across each nomination, one message remained consistent-Veronica's care went far beyond her role; she brought heart, comfort, and peace during one of the family's most challenging times.

According to the nomination, Crittenden treated the patient like family, ensuring she remained comfortable, respected, and surrounded by dignity throughout her stay. Her support extended beyond the patient to the entire family, offering encouragement, kindness, and a calming presence when it was needed most.

One family member described Crittenden as a "ray of sunshine in the middle of a storm," sharing how her warm smile and gentle demeanor brought reassurance during a long and emotional night. Others noted that her compassion, attentiveness, and genuine spirit left a lasting impression they will never forget.

"Time and again, Veronica goes above and beyond-not because she has to, but because it reflects who she is. Her actions embody the true spirit of human kindness and demonstrate the powerful impact of compassionate care," shared Amanda Fruth, Nurse Manager.

The BEE Award is presented monthly to recognize non-nursing staff members, including patient care technicians, nursing assistants, and medical assistants, who exemplify extraordinary dedication, teamwork, and compassion in supporting patient care.

SGMC Health offers a variety of recognition programs to honor employees who best represent its mission of providing "Remarkable People, Extraordinary Care, Human Kindness." To learn more about the BEE Award and other recognition programs, visit sgmc.org/recognition.
