GOVERNOR GREEN CONSIDERS NOMINEES FOR KAUAʻI CIRCUIT COURT

HONOLULU - Governor Josh Green today announced that he has received the list of nominees to fill the position of Circuit Judge of the Circuit Court of the Fifth Circuit (island of Kauaʻi).

Under Article VI, Section 3 of the Hawaiʻi State Constitution, the governor must appoint a judge from a list of nominees submitted by the Judicial Selection Commission within 30 days, to be followed by state Senate confirmation proceedings.

The Judicial Selection Commission submitted the following nominees for Circuit Judge of the Circuit Court of the Fifth Circuit, island of Kauaʻi, listed in alphabetical order:

  • Craig A. De Costa, currently a partner and vice president at Cahill De Costa Law Inc. He is a graduate of the William S. Richardson School of Law.
  • Michael D. Scarbo, currently a partner at McCorriston Miller Mukai MacKinnon LLP and a Per Diem Judge, District Court of the Fifth Circuit, State of Hawaiʻi. He is a graduate of Willamette University College of Law.
  • Michael K. Soong, currently a District Court Judge of the Fifth Circuit, temporarily assigned to the Circuit Court and serving as the Chief Judge of the Fifth Circuit. He is a graduate of the Southwestern University School of Law.
  • Kimberly A. Torigoe Metcalfe, currently a Deputy County Attorney for Kauaʻi. She is a graduate of the William S. Richardson School of Law.
