Redwood City, California - During the set-up for a Celebrate Redwood City Pride event at Courthouse Square on June 4, a distressing incident occurred when a juvenile shouted derogatory, homophobic profanities at attendees before throwing a firework into the public space, prompting an immediate response from the City. One person sustained minor injuries, and the Redwood City Police Department launched an investigation. The juvenile suspect was taken into custody later that evening, and the Police Department continued to investigate. On the evening of June 5, investigators identified and arrested a second suspect, also a 13-year-old. Both juveniles were subsequently placed in the custody of the San Mateo County Youth Services Center. To read the Police Department's press release, click here.
