Weekend closure of Illinois 34 begins May 29 in Hardin County

CARBONDALE - The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that a culvert replacement project in Hardin County will require a weekend closure of Illinois 34 in both directions, approximately 1.25 miles north of the Illinois 34 and Illinois 146 interchange, beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, May 29, weather permitting.

A posted detour utilizing Illinois 145 and Illinois 146 will guide motorists safely around the closure area.

The work is expected to be completed by 6 a.m. Monday, June 1.

Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changing conditions and all detour signs prior to the work zone, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
