Hot Stuff: Electrifying Water Heating, Cooking and Clothes Drying

November 3, 2025 - ROCHESTER, MINN. The City of Rochester is offering a free virtual workshop on the benefits of using electric appliances at home, covering practical considerations and the resources available. This Electrify Everything Minnesota workshop, offered in partnership with the Center for Energy and Environment, is designed to provide step-by-step guidance and connect residents with valuable resources.

Hot Stuff: Electrifying Water Heating, Cooking and Clothes Drying
Thursday, November 20, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Virtual workshop held live over Zoom.
Advanced registration is strongly encouraged, but not required.

This workshop will cover:

  • What you need to know about different types, sizing, and wiring needs of electric appliances like heat pump water heaters, induction stoves and electric dryers
  • When to consider upgrading your electrical panel or wiring
  • Questions to ask contractors and retailers when getting quotes
  • Overview of financial incentives and examples of combining them to bring down project costs

Hot Stuff: Electrifying Water Heating, Cooking and Clothes Drying is the final session of a three-part home electrification workshop series sponsored by the City of Rochester in partnership with the Destination Medical Center.
