US Delegation Meets Senior Sri Lankan Defence Officials

US delegation led by Deputy Commanding General Strategy and Plans for U.S. Army Pacific (USARPAC), Major General Giles J.S. Cornelia met with senior officials of the Ministry of Defence on 21 May (2026) for a discussion on ongoing bilateral defence cooperation projects.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on matters of mutual interest related to defence collaboration and security cooperation. The Sri Lankan side expressed appreciation for the continued support and cooperation extended by the United States in defence-related matters and conveyed expectations for further collaboration in future.

The U.S. delegation included Maj. Gen. Cornelia and officials from the U.S. Embassy, including the Defence Attaché. Additional Secretary- Defence Mrs. Indika Wijegunawardena, the Military Liaison Officer (MLO) and senior officials of the Defence Section represented the Ministry of Defence.
