(COLUMBIA, MO) - The City of Columbia has begun updating its 2021 Strategic Plan and is inviting residents to participate in shaping the community's future priorities through a series of public engagement opportunities.
Residents can provide feedback at
CoMo.gov/strategic-update. This engagement platform includes a survey, ideas wall and discussion forum and will also serve as a central location for updates throughout the process.
"As Columbia continues to grow and evolve, it is important that we update that plan so it reflects current realities and helps guide us into the future," said City Manager De'Carlon Seewood. "Just as important is ensuring that this update is shaped directly by the people who live and work in this community, as their input is essential to setting our priorities moving forward."
The City will also host three public forums at dates and locations to be announced. Additional opportunities for community input will be announced as the process continues.
BerryDunn, a national consulting firm, is working with the City on the update process. The City's Strategic Plan will guide City priorities, decision-making and long-term planning as Columbia continues to grow and address evolving community needs.
The City began developing the 2021 Strategic Plan in summer 2018, before the 2016-2019 Strategic Plan concluded. The plan was finalized and adopted by City Council in February 2021 and since then minor updates were made in 2023 and 2024.
