City Facilities Open at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 7

Due to inclement weather, City of Alexandria facilities and offices will open at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. Essential personnel and facilities necessary for emergency and weather response will remain in operating status.

Here is how the City is responding:

  • The Department of Community & Human Services (DCHS) Winter Shelter at 2355-A Mill Road will continue to operate with extended hours from 7 p.m. on Saturday, January 4 until 7 a.m. on Thursday, January 9. DCHS is monitoring the weather and will adjust operating hours as needed.
  • The Department of Recreation, Parks & Cultural Activities (RPCA) has canceled all classes and programs on Tuesday, January 7. Please see the facility for more information on refunds. Recreation centers will also serve as warming centers during their normal operating hours. A full list of RPCA recreation centers is available here.
  • All collection services for trash, yard waste, compost, and recycling will operate on a two-day slide.
