RSU NEDA Campus Warriors to Host Body Acceptance Week Oct. 21-24

[Link] An RSU student organization will host a week of events to provide resources, education and support for those experiencing body dissatisfaction and its associated risk factors.

"Body Acceptance Week" is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 21, through Thursday, Oct. 24, on the Rogers State University Claremore campus.

Hosted by NEDA (National Eating Disorders Association) Campus Warriors, Body Acceptance Week is a national initiative which promotes body acceptance, including body positivity, body neutrality and body liberation for all.

Scheduled activities include:

Monday, Oct. 21:

[Link]Sound Bath, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the DCTC Ballroom. This is a meditative experience, in which those in attendance are "bathed" in sound waves. Attendees are encouraged to wear comfortable clothes, and to bring a blanket and pillow.

Encouraging Mirror Painting, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the DCTC Patio.

Pride Outdoor Movie Night, 6 p.m. on the Clubhouse Patio, in coordination with RSU Pride.

Tuesday, Oct. 22:

Ditch and Thrift, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the DCTC lawn. This event is essentially a no-cost garage sale. Students may bring clothes that no longer represent or suit them and exchange them for something lightly used and new to them.

Scale Smash, 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. on the DCTC lawn. Students will have the opportunity to literally smash scales. Safety and smashing gear will be provided.

Bracelet Making Night, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Clubhouse Patio.

Wednesday, Oct. 23:

"Recognizing Eating Disorders and How to Help a Loved One" discussion, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Room 207 of the Stratton Taylor Library

Pumpkin Painting Night, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in Room 314 of Preparatory Hall. Art therapy through pumpkin painting with Psi Chi, an international honor society in psychology.

Thursday, Oct. 24:

"A Student's Personal Story," 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. in Room 207 of the Stratton Taylor Library. A Rogers State University will share their own candid story about struggling with eating disorders.

Bingo Night, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on the Clubhouse Patio. Eating disorder awareness-based bingo, with cool and useful prizes available to be won.

NEDA Campus Warriors is a non-profit organization devoted to preventing eating disorders, providing treatment referrals and increasing education and understanding of eating disorders, weight, and body image.
