The City of Gainesville's Cultural Affairs Division revives its Meet the Author and Lecture Series through spring 2027, with award-winning Florida author Kevin Powers presenting his novel, Children of the Wind.

When: 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17

Where: A. Quinn Jones Museum & Cultural Center, 1013 NW 7th Ave.

Programs are scheduled on the third Thursday of each month at the cultural center and are free and open to the public. The series will run through May 2027.

The monthly series will feature local, regional and national authors, scholars and historians who share their work through readings, book signings, lectures and discussions with the audience. Topics include Florida history, Southern culture, literature, folk art, education and other humanities subjects.

The programs will create opportunities for youth, adults and seniors to engage with authors, discover new perspectives and celebrate Florida's rich literary and cultural heritage.

The series was last presented in 2021. For more information, contact Cultural Affairs Manager Carol Velasques at [email protected] or 352-393-8532.
