Master Recycler Course

The Recycling and Solid Waste Reduction Board of West University Place is promoting a series of classes for area residents to fine-tune their recycling and waste reduction skills.

The Master Recycler Courses will be held on Thursday evenings from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., beginning on January 16 and ending on March 6. Classes will be held at the West University Place Recreation Center, 4120 Bellaire Blvd. Participants who complete certain requirements will receive a Master Recycler Certificate. Registration is open now at the cost of $35.

In addition to the Master Recycler Course, there are learning opportunities available at no cost. A Curbside Recycling Course will be held on Thursday, January 23, Recycling Beyond Curbside on Thursday, January 30; and Backyard Composting on Thursday, February 13. These courses will be held at the West University Place Recreation Center from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

The course covers a wide range of topics from the origins of landfills, household trash, zero waste, area curbside recycling, recycling beyond curbside, composting food waste, waste reduction, sustainability, the circular economy, and recycling away from home. Participants will receive numerous resources and be prepared to engage with others, answer questions, initiate recycling efforts, and inspire others to reduce, reuse, and recycle.
