Frederick County Releases Draft Historic Preservation Plan

FREDERICK, Md. - Members of the community are encouraged to review and share feedback on Frederick County Government's draft Historic Preservation Plan by June 2, 2026. The Historic Preservation Plan is a functional planning document intended to assist the County in addressing important issues related to cultural and historic resources.

The main goal of the Historic Preservation Plan is to establish an actionable strategy for identifying, protecting, and managing a community's heritage resources. The Plan also provides a long-range guide for educating about our shared heritage, better integrating preservation with development, and promoting the economic and sustainability benefits of revitalizing historic resources.

Throughout 2025, the County's Livable Frederick Planning and Design Office collaborated with a diverse group of stakeholders and community members to develop the draft Historic Preservation Plan. Community feedback will help shape the final version of the plan.
