Embracing the Future of our Community: AdvanSix Helps Welcome Philadelphia’s Newest Park

At AdvanSix, we know that meaningful community investment requires care, collaboration and showing up.

That's exactly what Frankford AdvanSix team members did to help welcome Philadelphia's newest park with a two-day celebration.

Borski Park festivities kicked off with a formal dedication ceremony on Friday, July 11, with public officials, community leaders and local partners at the new 10-acre waterfront greenspace. Bill Rodebaugh, Frankford Plant Manager, and Rachel Jones, Vice President of Public Affairs & Sustainability, were on hand to congratulate former Congressman Bob Borski, who helped bring the park to life alongside lead partner Riverfront North Partnership. Philadelphia City Councilmember Mike Driscoll, Pa. Sen. Christine Tartaglione, and Pa. Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Deputy Secretary Claire Jantz were among the local public officials who shared remarks with a crowd of more than 100 people.

With the park officially open, AdvanSix was proud to be the lead sponsor of the Borski Splash on Saturday, July 12. The community festival welcomed visitors of all ages to enjoy water games, art activities, park tours and more.

Rodebaugh and Frankford team members Adrienne Yeager, Environmental Lead, Dale Vizzini, Health and Safety Manager, and Fatima Mar Administrative Assistant, joined the event to connect with neighbors and support the many festivities, including the "Best of Bridesburg" raffle prize featuring goodies and gift cards from several neighborhood businesses. Visitors also stopped by the AdvanSix tent to pick up reusable water bottles, tote bags, notepads, and information about careers in manufacturing.

"We are proud to be AdvanSix and to be here as a sponsor of this great day," Rodebaugh said in his event remarks. "We are just so happy to be a part of it because we want to give back to our community."

From slip-and-slides and water balloons to line dancing, music, lawn games, and nature walks, the event served as a preview of things to come. Borski Park will have year-round programming like yoga, bird watching and this fall's Parks on Tap beer garden, which AdvanSix team members are encouraged to check out.

By far, one of the biggest hits of the Borski Splash was the AdvanSix fire engine, brought from the Frankford Plant and parked onsite for kids to climb aboard and explore. Children lined up eagerly for a turn at the wheel and left with "junior firefighter" hats featuring a sticker matching the truck's official AdvanSix safety response seal.

AdvanSix's support for the Borski Splash reflects a shared commitment among partners to bolster community engagement and economic vitality and also highlights the importance of investing in spaces that bring people together to create lasting impact.
