Reps. Viola Davis, Sandra Scott and Kim Schofield Release Updated 2023 – 2025 Legislative Summary and 2025 Vision

ATLANTA - State Representatives Viola Davis (D-Stone Mountain), Sandra Scott (D-Rex) and Kim Schofield (D-Atlanta) recently released an updated legislative summary and vision report, which seeks to highlight their accomplishments from the 2023 - 2024 legislative term and their goals for 2025. The document aims to serve as a roadmap for continued progress on justice, equity and opportunity-focused legislation, addressing areas such as education, healthcare, housing and criminal justice reform.

The report, entitled '2023 - 2025 Post Session Legislative Summary and Legislative Vision,' seeks to provide an in-depth review of legislation pursued, success stories from the session and their forward-looking vision for addressing systemic issues in Georgia.

"We remain committed to pursuing impactful legislation that addresses the needs of our communities," said Rep. Davis. "This updated report highlights our collaborative work to tackle complex challenges and lays out our vision for transformative change in 2025."

Below are highlights from the legislators' legislative summary and vision report:

• Education (Pages 4-21): Advocating for equitable funding, closing the achievement gap and enhancing access to quality education for all students;
• Economic Development (Pages 21-28): Prioritizing initiatives that uplift underserved communities and promote workforce development;
• Voting Legislation (Pages 29-33): Protecting and expanding voting rights to ensure fair and inclusive electoral processes;
• Criminal Justice Reform (Pages 34-36): Addressing over-incarceration, sentencing disparities and rehabilitation-focused reforms;
• Housing Legislation (Pages 51-65): Tackling the housing crisis by increasing affordable housing, protecting tenants' rights and combating homelessness;
• Environmental Justice (Pages 65-67): Advocating for clean air, water and equitable access to environmental resources;
• 2025 Vision (Pages 68-69): Outlining their priorities for the upcoming legislative session, including expanding Medicaid, addressing gun safety and fostering community-driven solutions.

Furthermore, the report dedicates an entire section (Pages 69-89) with the goal of highlighting these representative's success stories, showcasing legislative milestones and how they have impacted Georgians. These Representatives hope that the stories reflect their commitment to accountability, transparency and equity.

Representative Viola Davis represents the citizens of District 87, which includes portions of DeKalb County. She was elected to the House of Representatives in 2018 and currently serves on the Defense & Veterans Affairs, Insurance, Interstate Cooperation, Natural Resources & Environment and Urban Affairs committees.

Representative Sandra Scott represents the citizens of District 76, which includes portions of Clayton County. She was elected to the House of Representatives in 2010 and currently serves as the Minority Caucus Chief Deputy Whip. She also serves on the Banks & Banking, Defense & Veterans Affairs, Human Relations & Aging, Insurance and Reapportionment and Redistricting committees.

Representative Kim Schofield represents the citizens of District 63, which includes portions of Fulton County. She was elected to the House of Representatives in 2017 and currently serves as the Secretary of the Urban Affairs Committee. She also serves on the Creative Arts & Entertainment, Health, Interstate Cooperation and Small Business Development committees.
