UDOT seeks public feedback on potential extension of Mountain View Corridor in Utah County

Two open houses scheduled and public comment period now open for potential 10-mile extension of highway in Saratoga Springs

The Utah Department of Transportation released the Draft State Environmental Study for a potential 10-mile extension of Mountain View Corridor in Saratoga Springs.

With the population set to nearly triple by 2050, UDOT is focused on enhancing the transportation system in northern Utah County. The new extension would also include two 12-foot-wide shared-use trails parallel to both the frontage roads and the expressway.

The proposed new freeway would extend Mountain View Corridor from Cory Wride/Pioneer Crossing to Redwood Road near Pelican Point.

If improvements are not made in this area, engineers expect the morning commute to jump 13 minutes to 27 minutes of delay each day. According to the draft study, if the new extension is built, engineers expect to divert up to 22,000 vehicles off Redwood Road each weekday.

The new freeway will also provide southern Saratoga Springs residents another option to evacuate during an emergency (currently, Redwood Road is the only main option).

UDOT is holding two public meetings to present an outline of recommended improvements and benefits, a summary of environmental resources reviewed, and an opportunity to submit written or verbal comments and ask UDOT questions.

  • Online Public Meeting: April 29, 6-7 p.m. on Zoom.
  • In-person Public Hearing (open house format): April 30, 5-7 p.m. at Lake Mountain Middle School, 1058 S Old Farm Rd, Saratoga Springs, UT 84045.
    • The in-person meeting is open-house format with no formal presentation provided. Materials displayed at the meeting will be made available the next day at udotinput.utah.gov/MVCsouth.

A public comment period is open from April 16 through May 16, 2025.
