A thermometer displays the temperature in one of several items cooking on a charcoal grill. A camp in Fairbanks will teach youths the basics of such grilling, including how to ensure meat is cooked to a safe temperature.

Youths from fourth to 12th grade can learn about fire safety, food safety, starting a charcoal grill, seasoning meats and grilling different meats at the 4-H Grill Master Camp. Youths do not need to be members of 4-H to attend.

The camp will be held from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, at the Tanana District office of the University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service, 1000 University Ave., Fairbanks. The cost is $25. The registration deadline is 9 a.m. Sept. 21.

4-H members can register through ZSuite at https://4h.zsuite.org/event-registrations/41550.

Nonmembers can register at https://4h.zsuite.org/external-event-registration/41550.
