New EAfA brochure: Good for Youth, Good for Business

Building on the previous edition, published in 2021, the new brochure showcases the continued value of apprenticeships in today's evolving EU policy landscape. It shows how strongly apprenticeships contribute both to the key policy priorities of the Union of Skills and to addressing the rapid labour market changes driven by the green and digital transitions.

What key features can be found in the brochure?

The Good for Youth, Good for Business brochure clearly presents EAfA's activities, achievements and wider policy context, providing a comprehensive and user-friendly resource for individuals, companies and organisations involved in apprenticeship policy and practice.

It contains a wealth of key developments, practical examples and support tools to better understand trends in apprenticeship across Europe and strengthen apprenticeship programmes. Read on to discover what you can find in the brochure and why you should read it.

The role of apprenticeships in the EU policy framework and EAfA's journey

The new brochure highlights apprenticeships' crucial role in contributing to major EU initiatives like the Union of Skills. It underlines the importance of high-quality apprenticeships in supporting effective school-to-work transitions, improving employment opportunities for young people and helping to address skills shortages.

Additionally, it provides an overview of EAfA's role in promoting quality apprenticeships, including its activities, achievements and growing community of members. Through the commitments made by its members, the Alliance has so far helped create over 5 million apprenticeship opportunities and has received more than 550 pledges from VET providers, social partners, businesses, public authorities and other organisations.

Inspiring examples, case studies and success stories

Looking to be inspired? The brochure features stories and good practices from EAfA members, showing how organisations across Europe and beyond are strengthening apprenticeship systems, supporting the workforce of tomorrow, and enhancing companies' competitiveness.

Readers can also find a dedicated section on apprentice mobility, presenting EAfA's commitment to supporting mobility opportunities. This includes key resources such as EAfA's 2023 toolkit on apprentice mobility, information on the Community on the Learning Mobility of Apprentices, and EU initiatives that support apprentice mobility. Additionally, check out the other EAfA Communities and the Compendium of Good Practices to be inspired further.

As well as inspiring stories, the brochure provides practical and concrete information on EU funding opportunities for VET, apprenticeships and mobility, including programmes and instruments such as Erasmus+, the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+), the European Regional and Development Fund (ERDF) and the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF).

Looking ahead to the future of apprenticeships

Looking ahead, the brochure presents key priorities for apprenticeships for the years to come, helping shape the future of skills and learning in Europe. Through collaboration, innovation and shared commitment, the European Alliance for Apprenticeships continues to demonstrate that apprenticeships are truly good for youth and good for business.
