WHAT: West Virginia University President Michael T. Benson will visit Summers County and Monroe County as part of his "Welcome Home Tour," which is taking him to every Mountain State county in the first year of his presidency.
WHO: President Benson, University alumni and supporters, and local and community leaders
WHEN: Friday, March 27
Media members are invited to join President Benson for the following tour stops:
• Hinton Community Reception
10-11 a.m.
McCreery Hotel, 320 2nd Ave., Hinton
• Tour of Downtown Hinton
11-11:30 a.m.
Starting point: McCreery Hotel, 320 2nd Ave., Hinton
• Visit to John Henry Statue and Great Bend Tunnel
Noon to 12:30 p.m.
3262 State Highway 3 and 12, Talcott
• Visit to Monroe County Courthouse
1:45-2:30 p.m.
350 Main St., Union
NOTES: Once he visits Summers County and Monroe County, President Benson will have officially visited 37 West Virginia counties since becoming the University's 27th president last July. His goal is to get to all 55 counties by this summer.
Information about future tour dates will be released as details are finalized.
