Risch Statement on Meeting with Greenlandic and Danish Foreign Ministers

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Jim Risch (R-Idaho), chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, today released the statement below on his meeting with the Greenlandic Minister for Foreign Affairs and Research, Ms. Vivian Motzfeldt, and the Danish Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Lars Løkke Rasmussen.

"I was glad to welcome Ms. Motzfeldt and Mr. Rasmussen to the Capitol today. We discussed the shared interests of the United States, Greenland, and Denmark, including our shared security interests. As Russia continues its assault on Ukraine and threatens sovereign NATO territory, and while China is a looming threat to the region, allied nations must all work together to protect the alliance and the high North. I'm pleased that both sides have agreed to continue regular meetings at a high level and explore all options to get to a resolution of the issues."
