The City of West Sacramento is stepping up to the plate in support of bringing a Major League Baseball expansion franchise to the Sacramento region.
The Greater Sacramento Economic Council (GSEC) has united leaders from across the region to launch The Sacramento Pitch, a collaborative effort that shows why the Sacramento area is ready to become a permanent MLB home.
For West Sacramento, the opportunity goes far beyond baseball. A permanent MLB franchise would create long-term economic growth for the city, benefiting local small businesses, hotels, restaurants, retailers, entertainment venues, and creating new jobs throughout the region.
"This is a defining moment for West Sacramento, and we're ready," said Mayor Martha Guerrero. "Major League Baseball is already seeing firsthand the passion, energy, and civic pride that exists here. This region offers a practical and achievable path for long-term MLB success, and we have the financial capacity, community support, and clear vision needed to bring Major League Baseball permanently to West Sacramento. We're built for this. We're ready. Bring it on."
The City's financial participation in the campaign will be limited exclusively to revenue generated by the MLB expansion project and related surrounding development. No existing General Fund dollars will be used, and the project will not come at the expense of the City's current priorities, services, or commitments to residents.
