U.S. Transportation Secretary P. Duffy’s Oversight Over Commuter Rail Leads to LA Metro Appointing First-Ever Police Chief

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Following U.S. Secretary of Transportation Sean P. Duffy's tireless campaign to ensure the nation's largest transit agencies are prioritizing the safety of millions of Americans and cracking down on violent crime and assaults, Metro Los Angeles announced the appointment of their first-ever police chief tasked with establishing and leading a dedicated transit police force for the agency.

"I've been clear: states and localities that fail to prioritize the safety and security of American families on our public transit systems will face consequences. It's great to see that Metro Los Angeles was listening and has made the long-overdue decision to appoint their first-ever police chief. I look forward to working with their team to Make Commuting Safe Again and encourage others to follow suit," said U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy.
