(COLUMBIA, MO)- Staff at Columbia Regional Airport (COU) are seeking feedback on the proposed construction of a restaurant and kitchen area in the terminal and the reconstruction of the Terminal Building Loop Road.
An interested parties meeting is scheduled from 9-11 a.m. at Columbia Regional Airport, 11400 S. Airport Drive.
In November of 2023, the City entered into an agreement to lease 1,874.5 square feet of the airport terminal for a market and restaurant with counters on the airside, as well as a kitchen and landside concession area.
Following the first phase of the agreement, which included the grab and go concessions Tailwind Market, staff are now prepared to begin the construction of the kitchen and restaurant.
Simon Oswald Architects was hired to design the production kitchen at a cost of $38,100. The City will be responsible for the cost of the construction of the production kitchen, estimated at $375,000. The restaurant area will offer a limited hot food menu once the construction of the kitchen is complete.
Staff are also proposing the reconstruction of approximately 650 linear feet of Terminal Loop Road. The work will be completed in phases to maintain continuous access to the terminal during construction. Construction is planned this summer.
The total project cost estimate is $859,381 and is funded at 90% by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and 10% Transportation Sales Tax (TST).
