Sacramento, CA - Today, Governor Newsom issued an executive ordermoving forward California's clean transportation progress in the face of federal attacks.
The EO: Reaffirms the state's commitment to zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) deployment;
The EO comes on the heels of California Attorney General Bonta and 10 other state AGs suing the Trump administration over the illegal use of the Congressional Review Act to revoke California's clean vehicle waivers for its Advanced Clean Cars II, Advanced Clean Trucks, and Heavy-Duty NOx Omnibus programs.
In response to the announcement, Sierra Club California Chapter Director Miguel Miguel issued the following statement:
"We commend California's resolute leadership on clean transportation in the face of illegal and dangerous attacks on our State's ability to protect clean air for our communities and slash pollution from our cars, trucks, and buses. While the Trump administration is dead set on pushing us backwards, we are proud to see the Governor's dedication to move forward nation-leading programs for cleaner cars and trucks. The benefits of these programs extend far beyond California and serve as an investment towards a fossil-free future for other states as well."
