Incident at Bangor International Airport

Bangor, ME (Jan. 29, 2026) - Emergency crews responded to an incident that occurred at Bangor International Airport shortly after 4 p.m. on Friday, May 1.

The incident involved Flight N18516, a 1981 Beechcraft C23 Sundowner, single-engine piston aircraft registered to Maine Instrument Flight. There were no injuries reported.

Details regarding the incident are under investigation and no further information is available at this time.

Fire and rescue crews from the 101st Maine Air National Guard, Bangor Police and Fire, as well as airport personnel responded.

The runway was immediately closed and the Federal Aviation Administration, as well as National Transportation Safety Board, was notified by the airport. Per FAA and NTSB instruction, airport personnel worked to move the aircraft and the runway reopened just before 6 p.m.

In total four domestic flights scheduled to leave BGR during the incident were delayed, and four additional aircraft on their way to the airport were diverted to other locations.
