Santa Fe Public Library respectfully invites the community to participate in the Mexican tradition of Día de los Muertos! Join the Santa Fe community in honoring loved ones through traditional ofrendas (altars), crafts, and celebrations throughout October and early November. Place photos, letters, and keepsakes on community altars at any library branch. Contributions are accepted through October 31, 2025.
Library Events:
-Traditional Altar Blessing & Aztec Dances - October 23, 5 p.m. at Southside, October 28, 5 p.m. at the Main branch, and on October 30, 5 p.m. at La FargeLibraries. All ages welcome. No photography.
-Día de los Muertos Crafts - October 24, 2:30-4:30 p.m., Southside Library . Make a special craft to take home.
Plaza Celebrations:
October 31, 4-10 p.m. & November 1, 12 noon-10 p.m. - Historic Santa Fe Plaza. Enjoy mariachi music, signature Mexican foods, community ofrendas, face painting, a glow-in-the-dark candlelight parade, and a screening of Coco at 6 p.m. on November 1.
SFPL and the Mexican Consulate provide free arts and crafts for children. To submit photos or stories to be shared on social media, email [email protected] .
