Downtown street closures: E. Weatherford St. and E. Belknap St.
Published on March 27, 2026
Beginning Monday, March 30, East Weatherford Street, from Pecan Street to Nichols Street, and East Belknap Street, from Pecan Street to Nichols Street, will close two lanes. Only one lane of traffic will be open. Residents are alerted to expect delays in the area.
This street project will address deteriorated concrete panels that require timely repair to maintain safe and reliable travel conditions in a high-traffic downtown corridor. These roadways are part of the TxDOT system, and while TxDOT establishes requirements, the City of Fort Worth is responsible for routine street maintenance, including panel replacement.
The schedule has been developed to substantially complete work prior to the FIFA World Cup, minimizing impacts during a major international event expected to increase traffic and pedestrian activity downtown. The project's construction could not begin earlier due to the time required for coordination with TxDOT and permitting approvals.
