WASHINGTON - The Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA) released the following statement on the announcement from the United States Environmental Protection Agency regarding current federal regulations affecting oil and natural gas producers' associated gas wells that commenced construction after May 7, 2024.

IPAA EVP and Chief Policy Officer Dan Naatz: "IPAA supports the important announcement from the EPA allowing oil and natural gas producers to continue routine flaring of associated gas at new oil wells in limited circumstances after the May 7, 2026, phase out deadline. This announcement provides important regulatory clarity for independent producers. The announcement by EPA is another initiative taken to ensure that America's energy producers have the kind of certainty that is required to effectively operate within the agency's regulatory framework."
