Atlassian Cloud or Datacenter – What suits my team best

Cloud vs. data centre
The Atlassian Cloud is a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) Cloud. Atlassian provides the software and all its components as a service in the form of a subscription. In contrast, there are the classic Atlassian tools, which can be recognised by the "Datacenter" suffix.
The Datacenter product line clearly positions Atlassian in the enterprise segment - licences usually start at 500 users.
The Datacenter products can either be hosted on your own hardware in your own server/data centre (on-premise) or on the hardware of a cloud provider such as Azure, AWS, GCP etc., which is then referred to as Platform-As-A-Service (PaaS).
Advantages at a glance
The benefits of the Atlassian Cloud (SaaS) are clearly in the ramp up times, it is available in minutes on implementation, easy and quick to deploy. The cloud is also accessible at any time and from anywhere, making it easy to connect to external systems and partners. Costs are saved on hardware, operations and maintenance by eliminating the need for them.
If you would like to have data sovereignty and control from your company, then the Atlassian products in the Datacenter version are recommended for you; in addition, you have full admin and database access. The own operation also enables extended use cases (internal connections etc.) and failures/problems can be handled with the highest priority.
